There were several grammatical errors and typos. Speaking of editors… these books needed more line editing. That’s fine, but even books within a series need a clear beginning, middle, and end. I wish an editor had removed about half the sex scenes and then combined Temptation and Addiction into one novel. Frankly, it didn’t feel like it ended at all. Third, Temptation did not have a satisfactory ending. Without a doubt, sex is important in this story (especially since there is some question about James being a sex addict), but I think Smoak used love scenes to fill pages and avoid the harder work of character and plot development. A lot of phrases get reused, the dialog is cringe-worthy, and reading the same thing repeatedly gets old. At least half of these books are “bedroom” scenes, and they aren’t even especially good ones. Some of you might find that hard to believe. I write this as someone who likes dark and broody alpha heroes. It makes perfect sense for her to chose the dark and broody one who constantly breaks her heart. Penny has the hots for her professor- might even love him- but she has another guy friend who is actually amazing, age-appropriate, hot, and ready to commit. I had a lot of problems with this series.įirst, I wasn’t entirely clear who the real hero of the series until halfway through the second installment. They give into their desires, but can their relationship hold up when secrets are revealed and their misdeeds become public? James wants to do the right thing and leave Penny alone, but he just can’t seem to help himself. He never expected to be so tempted by a student. James Hunter is a tech-giant billionaire who- after a marital separation- decides to “give back” by teaching at a small college. Penny Taylor is a college sophomore whose always lived by the rules- until she falls for her communications professor. Normally I only review one book at a time, but in this instance, the first and second book of the Hunted series need to be read as a pair- mostly because Temptation ends on a cliff-hanger. I would definitely recommend this series.Have you ever read a book you thought was sort of bad, but you had to keep reading? That was my experience with Temptation and Addiction by Ivy Smoak. I just absolutely loved this whole series. I absolutely love James, and after everything he’s been through, I was so glad with how things turned out for him. Penny and James deserved their happy ending. There was a constant stream of twists and turns, which had me absolutely glued to this book. The wedding was brilliant, and then everything went to hell. Melissa and Rob were firm favourites for me. I love them.Īll of the other characters were brilliant as well. Seeing their relationship grow and develop was absolutely brilliant. I love his backstory, and I love how his character has developed. This book was a roller-coaster of a ride. The whole series has had me absolutely gripped. Because the only thing that lasts forever is love. And when the pieces settled, only one thing became clear…devotion. Temptation led to addiction, which exploded into an eruption of chaos. They thought it was an everlasting love, but it was doomed from the very start. A student and her professor were never meant to be forever. Darkness still lurks in the shadows of James’ past. With only 24 hours until the wedding, is there enough time to repair the damage? Tick tock.Īnd even if Penny and James do come back to each other, Isabella is still out there plotting. Could the past few years really mean so little to a man that became her world? To a man she’d do anything to protect? There is no future without him. One day before the wedding of her dreams, Penny is in a city that is no longer her home. This is the 4th and final book in The Hunted Series.
